Centerpoint to go viral...

As work continues on the newest Christel Doctor Who spinoff Centerpoint I am moving forward with my plans for a viral ad campaign for the series. It will revolve around one of the main characters in the series and should hopefully help to build up interest and specualtaion about the series.

With that in mind, I will be looking for sites that are willing to host the small ads that I will be creating to become part of the campaign. I shall be making video shorts and still image posters so if you are interested please contact me and let me know, it would be greatly appreciated.

Willing sites will be featured in the Centerpoint credits, linked from this blog, and given access to "first-viewing" of the first episode later on in the year. Just incase you are unsure what I mean by viral ads, look at this amazing example from Volkswagen recently...

ARNIE Series 2 put on hold indefinitely...

I am sorry to say that I have had to make the decision to put ARNIE series 2 on indefinite hold. I had planned to get the series out this year with a guest "Lead-writer" but I have been working pretty much round the clock on CDW and Centerpoint which means that I am not going to be able to devote any time to ARNIE.

That doesn't mean however, that series 3 of CDW was the last time you saw him. And on that bombshell I shall let the speculation commence...

Christel Doctor Who of the Week...Centerpoint

Planet of Souls (Again)

Here is the second of the four 2009 specials The Planet of Souls. Having looked at the episode again I actually decided to take one small scene out instead of putting anymore in. This episode of course gave the Doctor his first true companion, Ida Scott, albeit for only one episode, she became an integral part of "Christel Canon and would return in series 2 as well as series 3 of the show.

Christel Doctor Who in all its Glory...

As I announced at the turn of the year there will not be a fourth series of Christel Doctor Who until 2013 and so to keep interest high in the series, and hopefully to attract a few more people, I am intending to re-run the whole 3 series, including the 2009 specials, over the course of three months this year. I am aware that series 1 is no longer available to watch on the sidebar and so I shall be re-uploading it, if that's even a phrase, through youtube and then posting along with the other two series for you to see again.

The idea behind this is that anybody who visits the blog for the first time can watch the series from the very start, and any regular fans will not only have a chance to catch up on their favorite stories, but have a chance to see all three series in a short space of time and follow all of the story arcs through to their completion in series 3.

I have a rough schedule in mind and in the words of run dmc, "It goes a little summat like this..."

April 2012 - Christel Doctor Who Series 1.
May 2012 - Christel Doctor Who Series 2.
June 2012 - Christel Doctor Who Series 3.

To mark the re-release of each series I will also be taking the opportunity to update the blog design so that by the end of the re-runs the series are organised into their own pages, which also frees up a little more space on the ever increasing side bar.

New Series, New Hardware

With plans for CDW series 4 and Centerpoint beginning to step up a gear I have treated myself to some new hardware, so that both series can be rendered in glorious HD.

This has also allowed me to tentatively begin what is professionally known as "pre-production". In Christel terms it literally means having a play around to see what can be done.

My shiny new laptop (apple of course) will allow me to take the look of the series to the next level ad whilst I am going to keep very tight lipped about how I intend to do this, you will be able to notice a major difference in quality when both CDW 4 and Centerpoint hit your computer screens.

EDIT - Having now had the time to play with the new hardware I am very excited about the start of the two new series. I really can't wait to hear and see what you all think.

Christel Doctor Who of the Week...The Master

At the end of the 2009 specials the Masters TARDIS crash lands out of sight and he is not seen again. This was done with the original intention of bringing him back in a later series. I first planned for that to be the finale of series 2, and then moved it to series 3, however when I noticed just how many characters there were going to be in series 3 I decided to leave the master out.

I have nearly finished remastering the second of the 2009 Christel Doctor Who specials, Planet of Souls. The episode didn't really need much work at all actually and instead of adding anything extra in I have actually taken one tiny scene out. I am hoping to have everything ready so that upload can begin tonight, meaning that the episode should be with you (again) either tomorrow or Tuesday at the latest.

What to expect in February...

During February I am planning to finish a number of the smaller projects that are ongoing at the moment.

With this in mind there will not be much in the way of new content from Christel Films, but there will be some big announcements and some information about Centerpoint. Here is a quick outline of what to expect...

- The three remaining 2009 specials will be remastered and re-released.

- The third 2012 CDW special story will be officially announced. You haven't missed the second one being announced yet, don't worry.

- You will get to see the first exclusive shots of a new Centerpoint character, as well as shots of the ones you already know about.

- There will be a "fan-pleasing" announcement on February 10th.

I will of course, also be carrying on with writing for both series 1 of Centerpoint and Series 4 of Christel Doctor Who so be sure to check back regularly for more news and updates on both projects.

Series 4 to run to 14 episodes...

The big news today is that I have decided to run series 4 of Christel Doctor Who to 14 episodes instead of the standard 13. The reason for this is that I intend to have a mid-series break and I want 7 episodes in each half of the series. Plus I am also hoping to have around 5 guest writers onboard, which means I needed to expand the amount of episodes to accommadate them.

Christel Doctor Who of the Week...The Halls of Creation

In a scene that was eventually cut from episode 6 of series 3, the evil version of Azmael explained to the Doctor that it was indeed "them" (The guardians of time) who had saved Gallifrey after the Doctor chose the humans at the end of series 1. He went on to explain that the halls were created by the guardians as a mid-way point between the normal time-stream and Christel Cannon.They were to be, in-effect, a rudementary spawner for the many different enemies and threats that the Doctor had, and would, face.

However, as the scene went on, the characters rambled far too much and the whole thing got somewhat confusing towards the end.

No 12th until 13...

Although many of you have asked, I am afraid the answer is still no. You will not be seeing the new 12th Doctor until 2013. He will not be appearing the three 2012 specials, as these are stories that I want to experiment with and as such would not be well served to introduing a new doctor.

The 12th Doctor's first appearance will indeed be episode 1 of series 4.

Although I still have a number of projects on the go at the moment, one of my main priorities is writing for both Centerpoint and series 4 of Christel Doctor Who. Today I managed to put the finishing touches to the first draft of my 3rd script for series 4. In total I intend to write 9 of the 14 episodes and then put the others out to guest writers.

Currently, I have completed first drafts of episodes 1,2 and (what will probably be) 11. I am also approximately 3/4 of the way through episode 3 which means that I am making good progress. Centerpoint is also in a healthy stage of development. I have now written first drafts for the first and second episodes and I am currently trying to finish the 3rd episode, which when I have done so, will mean I will have completed half of the first series.

Grand Designs all over again...

I am pleased to present once again, in all its glory, the very first Christel Doctor Who episode, Grand Designs. Originally released in 2009 this is the story that begun the Christel Doctor series. I have remastered some of the sound and added two very small scenes into the episode. Posted below is the episode, along with the official synopsis and DVD cover, based on the series of covers that long time supporter Blink used to make. The second of the four 2009 specials, The Planet of Souls, should be ready soon and will be re-uploaded in the same way that this episode has.

Plot Synopsis - Landing in London in the year 2021 the Doctor is immediately faced with a number of difficult challenges. Firstly, the TARDIS is in a bad way and needs work and secondly, the mysterious next of kin seem intent on causing havoc wherever they step. Coupled with a seemingly corrupt and violent UNIT team nothing is as the Doctor remembers it. He soon finds himself in race against time simply to survive.

Christel Doctor Who of the Week...When are we?!

One of the few unanswered questions from series 3 of Christel Doctor Who was where in their timelines had the 10th and 11th Doctors come from. My original plan was to flesh the story out and reveal that the 10th Doctor was in between "Planet of the Dead" and "The Waters of Mars" and the 11th Doctor was chronologically placed within "The Big Bang" whilst he was navigating through time and Amy was struggling to remember him.

However, as I started writing and editing the episodes I realized that there was very little reason to actually reveal at what points in their timelines they were anyway. To be honest, it is at this point that I came up with the convenient need for the Doctor's to share some of their lifeforce to sustain their latest incarnation. My theory was, if they couldn't remember it, we wouldn't need to know where they came from.

Grand Designs, re-designed...

As part of my plan to partially add to and update the 2009 Christel Doctor Who specials in preperation for their re-release, I have tonight filmed two small extra scenes to add to the first special, Grand Designs.

As I have had to do very little to Grand Designs I am hoping to have it ready for re-release for this weekend. I just need to finish up cutting and editing the new pieces in and it should be ready to re-upload by Saturday, or Sunday at the latest.

Kualan's Doctor Who

When I decided that I was going to begin mini-reviews on other pieces of Doctor Who Fan-fiction I knew at some point that I would have to cover the series that is the subject of this post. That being Kualans Doctor Who.

Without doubt, this series stands alone as the inspiration for Christel Doctor Who, and I imagine most other Movies-Stunts-and-Effects based series that have existed since. Running to just one series and a Christmas Special, a second series was planned, and a trailer was released, but unfortunately it never saw the light of day. The first series however is a triumph in the fact that it does the basics really well. The visuals aren't mind-blowing, but they achieve the desired look and feel and the story isn't over-complicated. Doctor meets companion, has adventures, huge finale! What more could you want?

My only criticism of the series was that towards the end there was almost too much packed in and the simplicity factor was lost slightly. The Master and the Daleks made a great combination, but then there was an awkward scene with the 10th Doctor reverse-regenerating into the 9th, and for a while, the whole thing descended into fanwnak. Despite this, and for me, the series still remains one of my favourites to watch, and is responsible for Christel Doctor Who and Burkey's series at least.

Unfortunately it all died a death before the second series ever came to light. The trailer looked promising and with guest writers, including Burkey, onboard the creator Kualan even muted the possibility of voice acting, but it was not to be. Here's hoping that one day he will find the time to resurrect the series. Although that seems highly improbable there is still an opportunity to see small snippets of what series 2 may have looked like, because Burkey has found the original draft he did as a guest writer and is re-writing the episode and using it for his series.

P.S. If you are reading this now Kualan, I'd love you to write for Christel Doctor Who.

Burkey and PTS Sign on for Series 4

I am pleased to announce that both Burkey and PreTitleSequence have signed on as guest writers for series 4 of Christel Doctor Who. You will remember that Burkey wrote the series 2 story, Picnic at Asgard and I am very pleased to have his creative talent back for series 4. Pretitlesequence is relatively new to Christel Doctor Who, although he was due to write for the abandoned second series of ARNIE you can expect to see his talents later this year as he is writing one of the 2012 CDW specials, entitled The Memory Bank.

The Trenzalore Conundrum

It isn't very often that I post about "Real-life" Doctor Who here but having had time to amply digest series 6 in 2011 I have come up with a few theories as to what Steven Moffat might throw our way in 2012, especially with regards to the whole "Fields of Trenzelor/fall of the eleventh" prophecy.

It has been long discussed/muted/hoped by fans that Omega will return at some point in the future. Indeed, the uniforms of the church soldiers in series 5 Weeping Angels two parter, coupled with other prop based hints, seem to suggest just such a return.

Coupled with this is the now doom-laden talk of the fall of the eleventh, which is apparently when "the question" will be asked. A question that we all know to be simply, Doctor Who? My theory is that Omega and the question actually go hand in hand. To substantiate my theory I refer you to something known as the Cartmel Masterplan, which I will lift straight from this Wikipedia article.

During the tenure of the Seventh Doctor, part of script editor Andrew Cartmel's intention, now known to fans as the "Cartmel Masterplan", was to restore some mystery to the character of the Doctor.^[1] Cartmel felt that years of explanations about the Doctor's origins and the Time Lords had removed much of the mystery and strength of the character of the Doctor, and decided to make the Doctor "once again more than a mere chump of a Time Lord".^[1] Elements of this effort were liberally scattered through Seasons 25 and 26 of the series, and occasionally included hints about the Doctor's past; for example, in Silver Nemesis, when Ace and the Doctor discuss the creation of validium, the Doctor mentions that it was created by Omega and Rassilon. Ace asks, "And...?" and the Doctor is silent. Cartmel has written that this was meant to indicate that the Doctor was "more than a Time Lord":

...Omega and Rassilon were the founding fathers of Gallifrey. They towered above the Time Lords who followed. They were demigods. And Ace's nifty dialogue "And..." coupled with the Doctor's neatly evasive response, are a subtle attempt to say that there was a third presence there in the shadowy days of Gallifrey's creation. In other words, the Doctor was also there. So he's more than a Time Lord. He's one of these half-glimpsed demigods.^[1]

As this story was never followed through to volition it meant that this plan never really came off, but was also never really killed off either. I forsee that Moffat will look to use elements of this plan to bring about the "fall of the Eleventh".

My prediciton is that the Silence and all that they represent are minions of Omega, trying to stop the question from ever being answered. Omega does not want the question of the Doctor's identity answered because it would reveal him to be a fraud and also considerably change the history of the timelords.

This leads to the gaping plot hole of Omega being allowed back into the series. Knowing Moffats penchant for not worrying about this kind of thing, I think the real reason behind the Pandorica and the whole "Big Bang 2" will finally be outed. There's a specific question asked in the last episode of series 5 and again in the first episode of series 6 (with slightly different wording) - "How could I forget? - How could I have forgotten?". That raises the possibility that the question and answer relate to something that everyone - even the Doctor - has forgotten as a result of Big Bang 2 - either a person/event that is now missing from this reality or something like him forgetting to reapply the Time Lock on Gallifrey, for example.

Now if we take "the fall of the Eleventh" at face value then it my theory would of course bring about the possibility of the timelords returning again for the regeneration of the Doctor. But, with the 50th Anniversary special following in 2013 I wonder if they could be back to stay.

All in all it sounds exciting. I have never been a massive fan of either Moffat or Smith's work on Doctor Who I just hope whatever route Moffat takes it will lead to some long awaited answers to a lot of questions, especially the one hiding in plain sight...Doctor Who?

Christel Doctor Who of the week...Tabitha Parris

As you know, Tabitha and Roger Parris were married at the end of Christel Doctor Who series 3. This of course means that she is no longer Tabitha Mortimer, and is instead now, Tabitha Parris. Below are some pictures of Tabitha and Roger during their big day.

Of course you may also remember that they chose to get married at Lake Silencio in Utah, the reason for which, they never disclosed. This is also River Song's cameo in series 3. She was Tabitha's one and only bridesmaid.

So here is, what can be officially called, the first Christel Doctor Who series 4 trailer. I am very pleased to be able to present the new series logo to you and provide a very small hint as to what might be going in series 4 when it kicks off next year.

I hope as well that the quality of this video gives some indication as the direction I wish to take with the series and the new look that I want to bring in. I look forward to hearing what you think of the new logo. I will be changing the site banner to accommodate it very soon.

After announcing the first Christel Doctor Who special of 2012 yesterday I set about altering the design of the blog to try and cut down on some of the clutter in the sidebar. I have now setup a "page" for all the Christel Doctor Who special episodes. This page will include the specials for this year as well as the four original episodes from 2009 when I have finished updating them.

At the time of writing this post the pages are linked on the sidebar but I shall probably be playing about with their location for a while to come yet.

The first 2012 Christel Special is here...

I can officially confirm that the first of two (or three) Christel Doctor Who special episodes for 2012 will be released during April and be called "Out of Time". This episode will also be very different from any other episode of Christel Doctor Who that you have seen before because it will be an interactive episode in which you, the viewer, has to get directly involved in order to solve a rather wibbly-wobbly problem.

I don't have a set date for release yet but I am aiming for sometime mid-April at the moment. The episode will fit in nicely with Christel Doctor Who canon and as I said before, is something completely different.

I don't think that the episode will be voiced, because of the timeframe that I am working to, but if I can get it produced in time then I may look into it. More news soon...

The Dalek that Time Forgot

As part of the development of the Christel Films blog I am going to begin looking at, and promoting, other peoples Doctor Who fan fiction. I am going to start a section on the sidebar to promote this material and more is to follow soon.

To start off is a fine animated series that I found on youtube called "The Dalek that Time Forgot". It covers the story of a meeting between Dalek Caan and the new Dalek paradigm and is a very clever tale of the Daleks setting up their own existence. Currently the series runs to two episodes, but I am sure more are coming. The episodes are embedded below and I am sure you will agree, they are absolutely amazing!

New Logo reveal to hint at series 4...

On Tuesday (January 17th 2012) I shall release the new Christel Doctor Who logo and as I did with the current one I shall be revealing it in a small 15-20 second trailer. But, the big news is that, in said trailer I shall be hinting at what is to come for series 4 of Christel Doctor Who when it returns in 2013. There will NOT be any footage but just a small hint to keep interest high and to (hopefully) stimulate discussions and theories.

Be sure to check back tomorrow for a big announcement concerning the first of the 2012 specials, and then again on Tuesday for the reveal of the Logo.

Episodes 1 and 2 Drafted...

As you are probably aware I am currently spending a considerable amount of time writing and I am pleased to say that I am making some good progress. Just last night I finished off the first draft of episode 2 of CDW series 4. That means that the opening two stories of the series are now pretty much ready to be edited and re-drafted. Quite randomly I have also begun work on what will be either episode 9 or 10, which I have been able to do as it will be based on a short-story that I read a while back and have been fond of ever since.

Centerpoint is also progressing nicely. Episode 1 now has a completed first draft and I have episode 2 and 3 mapped and "noted" out, I just need to actually put the dialogue in. There will be more news on Centerpoint soon, but at the moment I want to concentrate on writing so that I can begin filming on time.

Don't forget; the new Christel Doctor Who logo launches on January 17th (My birthday) so be sure to keep checking back for more news and information.

Centerpoint gets guest star...

Having finished the first draft of Centerpoint's first ever episode I can reveal that the Centerpoint team will have a guest star to help guide it for its first mission. This star will not be the Doctor but may also not surprise you when he pops up on screen later this year. The series will be rooted in "Christel canon" and so I wanted at least one character to tie it in with Christel Doctor Who.

I am also changing the format of the series slightly. Series 1 will now run to six episodes instead of 8 and be comprised of a three part opening story, a single story in the middle of the series, and then a two part finale. This is format will then switch to three two-part stories in future series. However, as you will see when series 1 airs, I need a three part story to introduce the concept and the characters.

Christel Doctor Who of the week...The Contingent

As the Guardians of Time revealed at the end of series 3 of Christel Doctor Who the whole reason that they split the Doctor's timeline was because of the "temporal certainty" that was born from one of their meddling ideas. This life form eventually developed to enough of a state where it was able to cement its existence within time and became known as the Contingent.

Believe me when I say you are going to be seeing A LOT of the contingent over the next few years. Whilst I am not prepared to tell you anything about them at the moment, bear in mind that the Guardians of time saw fit to split reality to avoid having to deal with them, so that should give you some idea of what is coming up.

The Specials...Special Edition.

As you all know by now Christel Doctor Who actually started way back in 2009 with four special episodes featuring the 10th Doctor. As series 3 closed out in December I rewatched the specials and saw just how old they had become, even in the three years that they have been released. My intention is to "pull a Lucas" and re-master them. I want to bring them up to date with the CURRENT look and quality of the series and as I now have a working(ish) version of the movies I may even add in some small bonus scenes that I had originally planned but never had the knowledge to produce.

This is really my first project for this year and will be something I will get to work on straight away. As preperation for moving in that direction for future projects, I may even look into voice actors for the episodes, but that I will have to confirm later and it will only happen if I get oodles of time.

The New Doctor

With adequate time now having past between now and the end of CDW Series 3 I thought it only right to finally introduce the new (Christel) Doctor to you. Whilst you won't be seeing him in fully fledged action until 2013 there was a small snippet of what to expect right at the end of episode 6.

This Doctor appears much younger, and as you probably realized from his opening comments, seems to have poor eyesight and sports a Mohican-esque haircut! Don't worry,both were purely intentional and will become some of his main characteristics. His costume will change for series 4 but in true Doctor Who tradition the only screen time he has had was during the last few seconds of "The End of Days"so he hasn't had time to change. This of course will also be the first Christel Doctor to be voiced.

Some Sketchup Work

As you know, at the end of CDW series 3 the TARDIS console room was destroyed meaning I needed to find a new design for series 4. Today I set to work playing about with google sketchup and found some pleasing examples to start off with. Whilst I intend to design my own console room from scratch some of the examples already on google's 3D warehouse are very impressive. A few of them are pictured below....

Infact I would be interested to know which designs you guys prefer. I have a general idea for my design in my head but it is always nice to gauge the views of the fans.

The New Era

Long time supporter of this blog Burkey Said yesterday that he was looking forward to the new "era" of Christel Doctor Who. Well, in a way I am pleased to say that the era has today begun. This morning I had some spare time so I finished off my first draft of Christel Doctor Who series 4 episode 1.

I can't emphasize the whole "first draft" part enough but overall I am pleased with the pace and tone of the episode. Plus I now have a starting point to work on the rest of the series. It has also helped to start me off on my main job between now and April, which will be writing. I want to get as much done as possible on both Christel Doctor Who and Centerpoint, with the latter being the priority so that I can start voice casting and filming in the summer.

That also leads me nicely onto my next piece of news. Following the success of Christel Doctor Who being, in essence, one long six part story I have decided that Centerpoint will loosely follow the same approach. Think of it in the same vein as Torchwood Miracle Day, although hopefully a bit better because I didn't really rate that story that much. Series 1 of Centerpoint will run to 8 episodes and be broadcast in the last quarter of this year. At the moment (which is course subject to change) I am hoping for an October release to run through to Christmas.

Christel Doctor Who of the Week...ARNIE is who!?

I am going to be doing a number of CDW of the week posts simply to catch up on things that you may have missed during the final throws of series 3 of Christel Doctor Who. So much happened, especailly in the epically long episode 6, and I want to make sure that now we have pretty much a year off from CDW that you didn't miss anything.

Anyways, the first little thing was a comment from the Doctor to Tabitha during the last few moments on Gallifrey in episode 6. Believing ARNIE to be dead Tabitha seems shocked to hear the Doctor declare that she must find Parris as he will know to look for Kamelion and that will help to fix ARNIE. As you may or may not know, Kamelion is actually a cyborg character from the classic series. Infact he was a temporary companion of the 5th Doctor.

What we don't know yet is how, if at all, he is linked to ARNIE and how this helped Roger to eventually fix ARNIE. We only know that ARNIE was repaired because he was seen at the end of episode 6 performing the marriage service of Tabitha and Roger.

The Canon Explained (well sort of...)

Before I started writing series 3 of Christel Doctor Who I mapped out where I wanted the characters to go and where they had already been within the canon of the series. The main idea was that it would then be easier for me to plot when they should return. Now that series 3 has finished so has my image of where the characters went.

Therefore I thought you might like to see what I have christened the "Official Timeline for Christel Canon". Basically it uses the episodes of each of the series as a reference point and plots the characters journeys through the episodes. The first obvious timeline to follow is Timothy's timeloop. As you know he left the show in series 1, then returned in series 3 only to go on and meet the 10th Doctor in the specials, for everything to start over again. At the moment the timeline includes the Doctor, Timothy, ARNIE and Azmael but I do plan to add more characters and details in time.

I shall possibly add both the 10th(Tennant's) and 11th(Smith's) Doctors next, simply because they did not travel through the Christel universe in the same order as many of the other characters.

Christel Canon...!

So there you have it. Series 3 of Christel Doctor Who has come and gone and the big questions have been answered. In the coming weeks there will be a lot more discussion and analysis of the series, but I have finally been able to establish my own "canon" for the show. Yes it took 3 series and a huge story at the end but I hope it was worth it.

I actually have to thank DanHarma for giving me the idea in the first place, he asked me a couple of years ago where my Doctor stood within Doctor Who Cannon and from there I formulated the overall "guardians of time" story arc that you saw come to a head in series 3. I wanted to create my own Doctor from the start and when Matt Smith appeared in the "official" TARDIS I knew I would have to sort the cannon issue out sooner rather than later.

I am also officially making a request for somebody to do a review of the series. I would love to know what people think. Plus it will help inform the changes that I am making for series 4.

What to Expect from Christel Films in 2012

2012 is going to be a year of transition for Christel Films. I am resting the "Flagship" show (Christel Doctor Who) and focussing more attention on both ARNIE and my new project Centerpoint. But never fear, this will not be a wasted year as you are now to find out...

Christel Doctor Who

When I said I was resting Christel Doctor Who that wasn't entirely true. Instead of a full (or half) series there will be either two or three special standalone 20-25 minute episodes. I am still playing around with ideas and hope to be able to have something more definite in place soon(I may even have a story from a guest writer). The episodes will be released throughout the year so that they are evenly spread.

Centerpoint

This project is to be the major focus of my attention for this year. I am hoping to have lots more news about Centerpoint soon and hope to be able to start filming towards the middle of the year ready for a winter release of series 1; which will run to 8 episodes, be fully voiced and animated. Writing is now well underway and the first stage 'proper' is to begin voice auditions and to cast the main characters. Expect more news soon.

Now the surprises...

ARNIE Series 2

I have actually greenlit a second series of ARNIE and intend it to be shown this year but it will be VERY different. Technical difficulties meant that I could not push ahead with series 2 as I wanted to last year, but this got me thinking. This year I want to take ARNIE to the fans and so I am offering you, the viewer a very unique chance. I am going to be looking for a show-runner to take over the executive production of ARNIE. I will maintain a certain amount of control but the new show-runner will write the majority of the stories and be responsible for some of the production of the episodes. It's a big job, and you'll hear more soon. Please DO NOT start applying yet.

Christel Doctor Who

Whilst you are only going to see two or three episodes of Christel Doctor Who this year the main reason for this is I want to usher in HUGE changes, and believe me when I say that they have been long in the planning and will probably take most of the year to implement. As the BBC did when Matt Smith took over as the Doctor the series will be revamped. Completely. There will be a new logo, new title sequence and much more including some very MAJOR changes to the look of the series. Hopefully this will all be in place ready for the start of series 4 in 2013. You will hear lots about the changes and preparations for series 4 over the course of the year so fear not. The first big announcement will be the new series logo which will launch on January 17th. Which just so happens to be my birthday.

Blog revamp

With the intended changes being made to Christel Doctor Who I will be looking to change the website considerably to. Whilst I intend to update the look, layout and functionality of the blog I will also be making changes that will increase the amount of posts made and hopefully increase the audience that the blog attracts. Keep your eyes out for more news soon as I may be looking for some help.

Christel Doctor Who Series 3, Episode 6 - End of Days

So here we have it. Three years of planning, teasing and action have come down to this one episode. This is a pure indulgence for the die-hard Christel Doctor Who fans and I make no apologies for that. You need to have a working knowledge of the past series to fully appreciate the gravity of what is happening in this episode.

I would like to say thank you to all the people that have subscribed to the blog and watched the series over the past 3 years, your comments and support have meant a great deal. Special mentions also go out to my guest writers Burkey and Blink who produced two fantastic episodes for series 2 and have been really helpful and supportive from the very beginning.

The final length of this episode is a staggering 35 minutes, making it by far the longest ever episode of Christel Doctor Who. Ends of Days Easter Egg Trailer

A few weeks back, as part of the countdown to series 3 of Christel Doctor Who I posted a short "easter-egg" trailer that I had made for series 1. Well I have done the same for the end of series 3. As with the other trailer I have used an actual BBC trailer that (sort-of) fits the story that is to come and done my best to provide a short sneak of the final Christel Doctor Who series 3 episode.

Included in the trailer is some new footage from episode 6, so be sure to look out for that as well. Enjoy.

Now I do realise that the narrator lady actually talks about the tenth Doctor's final adventure but if you think about it, thats not too untrue, plus this is just an "easter-egg" so my excuse is that it doesn't have to fit completely. Episode 5 - Plot Snippets

Here are the final plot snippets for series 3 of Christel Doctor Who. "But what about episode 6?" I hear you scream. Well I am not doing snippets for the final episode because I want it to be shrouded in mystery and intrigue for as long as possible. So here we go. Enjoy these five snippets, because the end of days is nigh.

1). In a wonderful scene, the 10th and 11th Doctors are referred to as "interfering ninnies".

2). This episode features some of the very first dialogue that I wrote for the series, and it was a very long time ago that I wrote it.

3). The Doctor and Romana use a trick that the Ninth Doctor hinted at during the last moments of "Dalek" way back in 2005.

4). The Doctor finally works out what is happening and really comes of age. Its nice to see actually, as he has been in the dark for so long about what is going on.

5). A moment from the very end of series 1 is explained.

Episode 5, Plot Synopsis

Okay you should be warned that episode 5 is short. Very short. 10 minutes to be exact. There are a number of reasons for this. Firstly, I didn't want their to be too much in the story considering it was going out on Christmas Day and secondly I needed a story that would bridge between episode 4 and the epically long episode 6. That's not to say that episode 5 isn't worth watching but this is definitely more of a character piece (with a stonking cliffhanger at the end) that ties off some loose ends and "positions the final pieces" so to speak. Anyways, here is the synopsis.

Christel Doctor Who Series 3, Episode 5 S305 - The Halls of Creation.

Something is troubling the Doctor. Along time ago he was warned about the mysterious Halls of Creation and what horrors they hold. Now that he stands before them, apparently victorious over his evil self, there are still many questions to be answered. How did everybody else know about the halls except the Doctor? What could they possibly hold? and why can't he shake the feeling that this has all been planned from the very beginning?

Series 3, Episode 4 - False Dawn

Here is episode 4 of series 3, False Dawn. As you will see, this and episode 3 were actually written as one big episode that I just cut in half.

This of course means that there are now only two episodes left, episode 5 on Christmas day and Episode 6 on New Years Eve. What I can already tell you about episode 5 is that it will be the shortest ever Christel Doctor Who episode clocking in at barely 10 minutes, you'll see why, and dont worry. Episode 6 will more than make up for that as it is a full 45 minutes long.

Let me clarify that post title. By "it" I mean writing. With series 3 of Christel Doctor Who edited and ready to go I have turned my attention once more to writing. I have now written approximately half of the first Centerpoint episode and all of the first draft of episode 1 of Christel Doctor Who series 4.

I didn't actually intend to start writing series 4 until the middle of next year but I had a rough idea of what I wanted to do and so made a start. What I have now will change considerably before 2013 but I have at least done something and have some material to work from. What I can tell you about series 4 is that I have the overall arc planned and know roughly where each of the 13 episodes will slot in. I have two slots available at the moment for guest writers and will begin looking in earnest in the new year for interested parties.

Centerpoint is now making good progress and although I am only half way through my second draft of the first episode I am very pleased with it. I have planned for series 1 to run to 8 episodes in all (all of which I shall write myself) and I will be releasing a LOT more information about it in the new year.

As I said the other day the plan is that Centerpoint will actually be something that works to a final conclusion over a number of stories. I intend to define the end point from an early stage so that you know what it is working to. At the moment I have planned for this to take 3 series but I am toying with the idea of doing 2 series and a (dare I say it) Feature length "movie". I am unsure of how this will work logistically but it is something that I am thinking about at the moment.

Episode 4 - Plot Snippets

Here are the five key points from episode 4, False Dawn. Again there are twists, turns and shocks in the episode. Hopefully this will successfully whet your appetites.

1). Incase you ever wondered how Timothy knew how to fly the TARDIS, now you find out.

2). Tabitha and Timothy share a moving scene in the Tardis, showing just how much the Doctor really does care.

3). Your going to see a number of locations used in series 2 of Christel Doctor Who, as well as number of references. Infact, one of the series 2 episodes gets explained wonderfully.

4). Tabitha really comes into her own in this episode. Some creative thinking on her part helps to further rack up the nostalgia points.

5). The end scene is a very rousing one and its tough to see where else there really is for the series to go, but don't worry, this has all been planned for.

Having saved Timothy Jackson from the Evil Doctor's clutches the Doctor has journeyed back to the Gates of Elliysium to try and reason with his evil self one last time. But for once things seem to be working in the Doctor's favour. His friends are winning the war of the worlds and launching an audacious rescue attempt. Yet as the Doctor seems to have finally won his greatest battle something else is lurking in the darkness and the Doctor doesn't feel quite right.

That's right. Timothy is back in Christel Doctor Who and don't worry he will have a big part to play in the storyline, I didn't just bring him back for the sake of it. This of course means that I have may of told a little white lie when I originally said that he would not be returning, but I couldn't tell you everything that was going to happen now could I?

Thoughts on the Future

So with Series 3 of CDW progressing nicely I have begun thinking in earnest about 2012 and in turn, Centerpoint. I have spent the last few weeks writing small bits of the first episode and tweaking the overall idea of the story. I have decided to have an overall arc that will take either two or three series to play out. The idea is that the viewer will then know that the series is playing towards a conclusion but not be sure how it will get there.

I have also started formulating an early draft shooting schedule for the series and if it is to be ready for a winter 2012 release then I intend to start shooting around April (Easter) of next year and then be finished by the end of August. This has of course been thought out with the intention of then being able to start filming series 4 of Christel Doctor Who during the winter of 2012 and be ready for a January-February release in 2013...if not sooner. There will be lots more news about Centerpoint in the new year but for now I just wanted to update you on my general thoughts and progress. I hope everyone is enjoying series 3 of CDW so far.

Episode 3 Plot Synopsis

Can you believe that the end of episode 3 will actually mark the halfway point of series 3, and believe me when I tell you that you really haven't seen anything yet. Barring episode 6 this episode is the one that I am the most excited about because of simply one scene, and I cant wait for you to see it, hopefully you won't see it coming. With an evil version of himself now causing havoc throughout time and space the Doctor has some dark facts to face up to. This is what he could have become and now he will need to call in favors from across time and space simply to survive, yet with conflict brewing everywhere and every-when the Doctor has one last task perform and it is one that he hoped he would never have to.

I haven't actually finished showing you all of the character trailers. There is one that I am holding back until a certain point in the series. I really want to show it to you but cannot do so yet as it will reveal far too much far too soon. But you really are going to love it when you see it.

However as a bonus item, I have found a "test" trailer I did for the doctor way back before series 1 of Christel Doctor Who when I planned to use voice actors. You have actually seen it before but I really like it and thought it still worked really well in the absence of a series 3 character trailer for the Doctor.

Episode 2 plot snippets

Here the 5 plot snippets for episode 2, The Evil of a Timelord. This episode for me, is where the story really kicks off. I had to do a lot of setup in the first episode and needed to move everything into place so to speak. Now I have done that everything is ready to take off, and take off it will.

1. Your going to see ARNIE, Roger and Jack Harkness in this episode. They are all called in for thier expertise and know how. ARNIE's story pretty much picks straight up from the end of his first series.

2. The whole sonic screwdriver conundrum still rumbles on. That was the idea don't worry. It wasn't something that I have overlooked and will actually be pretty important in the end.

3. This is quite a shocking episode in that it shows you just what you could be capable of if you gave in to temptation.

4. There is a very amusing moment where two very different people both tell Jack "not now". Perhaps they aren't that different after all.

5. They were mentioned in series 4 of "real" Doctor Who. Now you get to see my interpretation of them, and what they can do. They will bring about cliffhanger number two.

With just 5 days to go it is plot snippets time for episode 1. I have had to be very careful about these snippets as I want to avoid giving too much away about what is to happen. There are some rather large surprises in the episode that hopefully nobody will see coming.

Episode 1 - An Imperfect World

1. Two John Smiths in one day...Tabitha should be so lucky.

2. It might have been five years for Tabitha but it has only been moments since the end of series 2 for the Doctor and Amy Pond...and it shows!

3. There is some hustle-esque Jiggery-pokery at the start of the episode that doesn't get explained straight away.

4. There is a museum visit...and the Doctor takes an instant liking to the curator. Well he would wouldn't he?

5. There is a scene that I think you knew would be happening at some point in the series...but I bet you didn't expect it already.

With just 6 days now to go to the release of Christel Doctor Who series 3 I am now pleased to say that I have the entire series sitting on my desktop ready to be uploaded to youtube. This means that production has officially wrapped on series 3 and I can begin turning my attention to my other projects.

I have already begun writing Centerpoint series 1 and I can give a small snippet of information in that the series will start in the very distant future. To roll out the inevitable cliches; it will be darker and more adventurous than anything you have seen before.

My first revelation is that in one of the episodes in the series there is a broom. Now that my seem a bit random, but bare it in mind when watching...

A Series 3 update

Although news of Christel Doctor Who series 3 has been in short supply recently the reason is that I have been beavering away quietly putting the finishing touches to the series and working my way around the problems experienced with the Movies Stunts and Effects.

I am pleased to inform you that I have now finished adding the subtitles to four of the six episodes and I am beginning episode 5 this week. I have also finished the two pickup shots that were needed for episodes 4 and 6 and they will be exported soon.

The next phase of production will be adding the soundtrack, which I have actually done to parts of episode 6 already. As with previous Christel Doctor Who series I shall be using the traditional music from the Doctor Who soundtrack as well as various other classical tracks that help to fit the mood.

Also, for your information here are the latest run times for the episodes.

So as you can see you are going to need to be free for quite a while on New Years Eve because by the time it is completely finished I can see episode 6 running to nearly 40 minutes, making it almost feature length. The smart question is why not put some of episode 6 into 5, but when you see the episode you will understand why I didn't.

Anyways, I hope this little update has served to whet appetites sufficiently. I shall soon be releasing the plot synopsis for episodes 1,2 and 3 and I shall be doing the customary series countdown posts for 10 days before series 3 commences...it is actually quite close now!

Series 4?!

Although it is probably more than a year away I have begun to turn my attention towards series 4 of Christel Doctor Who and with that in mind I can confirm that there will be small teaser at the end of series 3. I cannot stress enough how small this teaser will be but it should prove as an early statement of intent as to how I want to ramp up the quality of the series and change the look when it returns. Be sure to look out for it.

The ARNIE Conundrum

I have always said that Christel Doctor Who series 3 will answer a great many of the questions and satisfy a lot of the plot arcs that have been running since series 1. However, the only question that it won't answer is perhaps one that has been somewhat overlooked within Christel canon; who created ARNIE?

I do intend to answer the question, I even have a rough plan for how I would like to do it but there are no plans to reveal that information yet. I like the fact that it is a mystery and it allows me to go in a number of different directions with the character. As you will learn in series 3 and then the new year, ARNIE does have a future (woops...have I given too much away)...

A few days ago I posted a review of episodes 2 and 3 of Burkeys Doctor Who series. As you will know if you are a long time Christel fan Burkey is a long time supporter and friend of the series and I am imploring you to head over to his blog and support that as well as you do Christel Doctor Who.

I can personally guarantee that he has some great episodes coming up because as script editor for the series I have had the privilege to read some of what is to come. So I urge you, whilst there is a lull in Christel Doctor Who news and activity you have the perfect opportunity to head over the The Writers Blog and check the three episodes that Burkey has produced so far. Character Trailer - Tabitha Mortimer

As part of a countdown to series 3 of Christel Doctor Who I am releasing a number of character trailers based on the many different characters that will be appearing in the series. I thought it very apt to start with the second most famous Christel Doctor Who character(The Doctor being number 1 of course), Tabitha Mortimer.

As you will see from the trailer a lot has happened to Tabitha since we saw her at the end of series 2 and she is still very much missing the Doctor. The next trailer will be for ARNIE and should be released quite soon. Enjoy...

The Burkey Review...

Long time follower and supporter of Christel Doctor Who, Burkey, has recently released episodes 2 and 3 of his animated Doctor Who series. If you haven't seen the episodes yet then be sure to catch them here.

Entitled "Terror of the Meduzans" Parts 1 and 2 the two episodes focus on the mysterious events that take place in a futuristic university party that the Doctor is invited to. The dynamic that has already been built up between this version of the Doctor and his fiesty companion Eve is familiar to most "Who" fans but still refreshing and you get the sense that although Eve is still slightly overawed by the Doctors world she can still hold her own when she needs to. Infact these episodes provide a great deal of opportunity for both the characters of the Doctor and Eve to be developed. We see a playful and flirtatious Eve and a Doctor who is not afraid to make the grand and almost dark decisions as he rather ruthlessly dispatches of the Meduzans leaders, an alien race called the Versinori. One is left wondering whether there are darker days to come for this Doctor?

The two part story is handled brilliantly and although it was a brave decision not to show the Meduzans at all in episode 2 it pays off ten fold in the tension, drama and anticipation that is built up. My personal preference would be that the avatars used for the Meduzans and the Versinori were swapped as the picture of the Meduzans that had been built in my head was more of an organic one rather than robotic, but this is simply down to personal tastes and takes nothing away from the quality of the episodes and indeed the story telling.

We already know that this is a Doctor that is ready to take risks but it's when Eve realises the decisions that he has to make that we really see the characters shine. The dialogue between the Doctor and Eve on the TARDIS is fantastic and we can see the Doctor through Eve's eyes. The two share a good rapport and the Doctor seems to have taken on the role of mentor to Eve as he shows her the stars.

Overall these are two brilliant episodes, the production quality is amazing and the voice acting adds a whole new level to the quality of the story telling. The auxiallary characters are handled brilliantly and you feel like you can immediately identify with them. With the addition of Wesley, Eve's brother there are surely some more fantastic adventures ahead. Two great episodes that I implore you to watch!

After my well documented problems with OSX Lion and Stunts and Effects I am pleased to say that I have now managed to write a story for the final episode of ARNIE. I have enough footage to use and on a first rough cut it cobbles together quite well into a story. It actually works as more of a series 3 prequel story instead of a continuation of ARNIE series 1 but it really is the best I could do with what I had available.

As far as a release date goes I am hoping that will be quite soon. I am still unable to access the VAA forums so I think I might just knock the idea of voice acting on the head for ARNIE and concentrate on getting CDW Series 3 finished and Centerpoint written.

On the note of Christel Doctor Who, I am hoping to be able to release the first "character trailer", which will be Tabitha's, very soon, so be sure to watch out for that one.

Christel Doctor Who of the Week - Protection

Today I sat down and put pen to paper on the first script of my new animated series (and Christel Doctor Who spinoff) Centerpoint. It's been a long time coming, and will probably take even longer to get to your computer screens but the process has begun.

I am aiming to reveal a few more of the characters for the series through special appearances in Christel Doctor Who, so be sure to keep an eye open for that and I am planning a viral advertisement campaign on this blog, but more info on that will come about soon.

Lion has killed ARNIE

I am very sorry to have to inform you that I have been unable to solve my issues concerning access to the Movies Stunts and Effects using OSX Lion. It will not open anymore and I have run out of things to try. Sadly this does mean that ARNIE series 2 has now been cancelled. I apologise whole-heartedly but there is very little I can do if I cannot gain access to the software that I use to animate an animated series with.

But. It is not all doom and gloom. I had managed to complete 80% of episode one before this major technical gremlin took hold and so I have formed a plan. Using footage from what I already have and some old unused footage I will put together ARNIE's final adventure. I have already begun rewriting the story I had planned for episode 1 and instead of a second series I want you to think of this episode as a special tagged onto the end of series 1. I should be able to release the episode quite soon and as there is now only one episode to work on I may give the voice actors alliance another shot to see if I can gain access to my account again.

The episode will be called "Hunt for the Doctor" and will not only form ARNIE's last adventure but bridge the gap nicely between the end of Christel Doctor Who series 2 and certain events in series 3.

On the note of Christel Doctor Who, don't panic. I have everything animated and exported except the five minute scene in episode 6 which was sadly corrupted. I am still working on a plan for this but I have a bit more time than I had with ARNIE.

I am dissapointed to have to make this announcement as I had got big things planned, as well as a great story from a guest writer but I really have no other choice. I can't access the software which means I can't animate it.

There may be trouble ahead...

I may have a serious problem. I have recently updated my iMac to OSX Lion. Sine doing so The Movies Stunts & Effects refuses to run. I have try reinstalling it and upgraded flip4mac but to no avail, it simply "quits unexpectedly". I have been working on this problem all day and found nothing to solve it. The only hope is that I can convince my windows partition to accept the game, but that seems to be playing up as well (but tbh, when doesn't windows play up?).

This unfortunately means that the promised ARNIE trailer will not be ready for this weekend and that the series is once again on hold. I am truly sorry for this delay. If anyone knows of any fixes for this I would be most appreciative of their help. I have also discovered that the final export I did for the last piece of CDW series 3 was corrupted so I am also missing a part of the last episode, which has really caused me to panic. But don't worry. I have the rest of the episodes safely tucked away in iMovie ready for their subtitles and sound.

Series 3 Progress Update...ARNIE trailer Coming...

With filming on Series 3 of Christel Doctor Who having wrapped early last month I am now in the lengthy "post-production" phase and that means adding subtitles and music. I am pleased to say though that as of today (October 19th) I now have episodes 1 and 2 of the third series completely finished, which is a third of the series already done.

In other news. I can also confirm that after a very quiet period concerning ARNIE series 2 that there will be a trailer for the second series at some point during next week and that the series will start very soon after that. Unfortunately I have had to abandon voice acting. I am unable to access my account on the Voice Acting Alliance and even if I could now it would be too short notice for potential actors to submit auditions for parts. I did record a lines for the episode myself (As a cameo you understand:)) and so I have played about with putting voices into the episodes. It will have to wait now until Centerpoint next year.

The only real change was moving episode 4 back to the 21st, this meant I could put episode 5 on Christmas Eve and then have the series end on New Years Eve...oh and what an ending it will be, episode 6 is now running at an estimated length of 35-40 minutes.

So here it is. A little earlier than promised, but here is the series 3 release trailer. There is some new series 3 footage in here to watch out and a new character to add at the list, but you'll have to do very well to spot him. Anyways, enjoy the trailer. I know its the soundtrack from the Clash of Titans trailer but I really like the soundtrack to it and the dialogue kind of works as well. As of tomorrow, there will also be a series 3 counter added to the sidebar.

Christel Doctor of the Week - Hearts will be Broken

Series 3...Some questions Answered...

I have had a few people ask me how many questions and plot arcs series 3 will finalise and I can tell you that the answer to that question is simply...a lot of them. In slightly more detail, but without giving too many spoilers away, I shall attempt to quantify "a lot of them".

- I recommend watching the 2009 specials again, you will find out why the first one was called Grand Designs.

- There will be a long standing question answered about a certain companion.

- You will see the beginning and end of a number stories.

- You saw the Doctor regenerating in the "September Trailer" so that obviously happens...right?

- Last, but probably the most obvious, you will find out what the guardians of time are up to...but they aren't necessarily the "big-baddie" for the series.

- There is a wedding...

Some of these you knew already, some may be a tad confusing, but I want to keep people interested and talking.

S306 Nearly a series in itself...

Filming for series 3 of Christel Doctor Who has nearly wrapped and with one more scene left to film for episode 6, End of Days, the episode checks in at nearly 32 minutes long. Obviously this is uncut at the moment but it should still weigh in at nearly 30 minutes...meaning a very long and detailed series finale.

Mind you, in the essence of River Song herself (spoilers!), I should admit that I filmed approximately 4-5 minutes of the epsiode 3 years ago, which helps...and shows amazing forward planning (Or at least that's my excuse...and I'm sticking to it).

This is down to a massive workload at the moment and the fact that I just need to crack on and get ARNIE and series 3 of CDW finished meaning that there is very little to actually post about. Although you won't be seeing it until 2013 I have begun tentatively planning series 4 of Christel Doctor Who. I have a very rough story arc outlined and have looked at a few props that I could use to add to the stories.

I can promise you that it will be VERY different to what you have come to expect and will hopefully be a lot more professionally finished and written. Which is why I am starting to plan it now.

Whilst I will be looking for guest writers please DO NOT contact me just yet. I have not even started thinking about episode ideas and so I can't give episode slots out if.

Set Report 9 - Sorry, what now?!

The sixth and final episode of Christel Doctor Who Series 3 is currently filming and it is very secretive. However, we have managed to get some leaked snippets from the script. One line included the words "Grand Designs" and the other was a rumored line in which a character was told to "Make sure you get your reward. You owe yourself that much". As of yet, the significance of these lines are unknown.

On a completely separate night you may need to be sitting comfortably for episode 6. It is not yet half finished and already weighs in at over 16 minutes.

With filming for episode 5 now complete I have done 5 of the 6 series 3 episodes already. However I have noticed a few plot holes and inconsistencies within the series that I will need to iron out before I release the episodes. You may remember that I managed to write the entire 3rd series of Christel Doctor Who whilst on two 9 hour flights during the summer holidays but the only problem is I have never really checked the scripts thoroughly until now so I will now have plenty of time to do this before the December release.

This will also give me more time to put the next trailer together, which...and you have been warned...will reveal some big spoilers for series 3!

CURRENT Series 3 Scheduling

With the majority of Christel Doctor Who 3 in the bag I am beginning to think in a little more detail about the scheduling for the series. At the moment this is the plan, I say at the moment because things could change a lot before December, and probably will...

I am planning to run episodes 1-3 in regular weekend slots on the first three weekends of December, making it the 3rd, 10th and 17th.

Episodes 5 will be aired on Christmas day with episode 4 either on Christmas Eve on earlier in the week leading up to Christmas.

That leaves episode 6, which should run to over 25 minutes, to air on New Years Day.

I stress again that, at the moment, this is simply the latest incarnation of the plan and may change before December gets here. As with the past series however, there will be a series launch trailer to confirm my plans once and for all.
